High Speed Blanking
Do you need a large volume of parts produced? High speed blanking is the most economical way for you to get the parts you need at the cost you want.
Blanking is the process of punching a component piece (or blank) out of a piece of raw stock to a predetermined shape by die cutting the outside shape of the part. This process is used to cut up large sheets or continuously fed coils of stock into smaller pieces, ready to move to the next step in the manufacturing process. Blanking is often combined with piercing to add punch-out shapes within the blanked part.
Some key characteristics of the blanking process include:
- The ability to produce economical metal work pieces in both strip and sheet metal during medium or high production processing
- The removal of the work piece from the primary metal stock as a punch enters a die
- The production of a burnished and sheared section on the cut edge
- The production of burred edges
- The control of the quality by the punch and die clearance
- The ability to produce holes and shapes of varying sizes – quickly
Whereas laser cutting is great for difficult to cut materials, complex shapes and lower volume runs, blanking is easily the most cost effective method to produce a large volume of parts in the most cost effective manner.
For medium to large volume requirements, Hyde’s press room offers high quality, low cost parts blanking. Both mechanical and hydraulic presses, ranging in capacities up to 100 tons, stand ready to blank out your requirements. Parts can be produced on manual presses or on automatic presses which feature a continuous run process with stock feeders and stock straighteners.
Both single stage press tools as well as progressive blanking tools are available to meet your design needs. In fact, most of our tooling is made internally in our in-house tool and die shop. This ensures you can get the best quality, greatest flexibility and fastest possible turn-around for your requirements.
